What fills the media?

I have chosen to compare New York Pix11 and ABC7 Eyewitness News online news story.  The first thing that I noticed was the cover stories on both news outlets were different.  The cover story for Pix11 was about the E-Z Pass scam still being in affect and affecting many in the tri-state area.  When I went to look for the article on ABC 7 I didn't find the article on their front page.  When I searched the article on their website I found that they haven’t posted an article about the E-Z Pass scam since July 8, 2014.  I believe the news-value for this story is important for people in the tri-state area because you may think that you have a balance on your E-Z Pass when really it’s just a scam.  From the article, I see that there were reports about the E-Z Pass scamming in July 2014 but this new information shows that people are still being affected by the scam.
The cover story for ABC7 was about the actress from DJango who spoke out about being detained last night.  This article was found also on Pix11 in their top stories.  I think the news-value for this article is kind of important because it shows the cops treating someone unfairly and unjustly.  It also shows the importance of having identification with you at all times.  This story covered on Pix11 was written from a different point of view.  In ABC 7 the news article was written mainly from the actress’s side of the story.  In Pix11 the article was written mainly from the boyfriend’s point of view. The Pix11 story made the news-value a little bit more important to me because it expressed more facts about the incident and made me realize how prominent racial profiling is.
